Ten Training Tips For
Moving Your Company Ahead
- A training program should be championed by Human
Resources,
but should have active participation and commitment from
Operations, Sales, and most important, executive
management.
- A successful program should be in sync with
corporate goals,
departmental goals, and employee goals for win-win
results.
- A successful program should incorporate position
descriptions,
career paths, performance objectives, training courses,
and
monetary/promotional rewards into a single cohesive
package.
- In order to attract employees with drive and
initiative who
want to advance their careers, your career
development/training
program should be optional.
- A variety of recognition and rewards should be
awarded on
both short- and logner-term bases.
- Training courses and career opportunities should
be offered
at every level of the organization to facilitate growth
and to
promote morale at all levels.
- Training courses should be fun, highly
participative, well
designed and executed, and should offer a combination of
"big picture"
knowledge as well as hands-on skills development.
- Successful leaders and mentors within the company
should participate
in training courses and should sit in on classes whenever
possible.
- A career development/training program should be
highly and
continuously marketed.
- A program must be continually reviewed, including
the courses,
the rewards, and the results to ensure that they are
still achieving
your original objectives.
