Forbes, 1997, Special Edition Titled:
"400 Richest People in America"
The very rich are
vulnerable to extortion and bad publicity.
In order to give you some peace of mind, for you and your key
employees, you need to consider the following home security.
- A perimeter and interior security/fire system controllable from
at least three locations,
monitored by a central station, with redundant power back-up, and panic pads in
several locations.
- A portable satellite telephone system in the attic.
- A timed lighting system integrated with the security system for
the whole property.
- Multiple safes -- disperse your documents and valuables.
- Your gates should be mechanically operated by code from within
the house.
- The property should have a perimeter fence with CCTV monitors and
recorders.
- Put resident geese in your pond.
- Have a separate gas powered electrical generator to supply
security and communications
in case of a power outage.
- A "safe room" that has independent two-way
communication and locks
from within, with bulletproof walls and a cellular phone in case power goes out.
- A severe storm detection system.
- A buried roadway sensor to detect vehicles as they approach the
house.
